The challenge

Earlier this year, Google Cloud announced the End of Support (EOS) for Java 8 runtime for Google App Engine.

This means that as of 31st of January 2024,  all of your applications based on the first generation of App Engine need to be on a different technology.  As you will no longer receive updates or support. This includes security updates, bug fixes, and technical support. With your application(s) being key to your organization, being unprepared for this can interrupt business continuity and operations, and even compromise your entire IT infrastructure:

New releases of application not possible

Following the EOS, you will not be able to deploy the application anymore. This impacts new releases and your time-to-market with new functionality.

Unsupported application poses security risks

EOS leaves your organization vulnerable to attacks. With malware attacks becoming increasingly frequent, these vulnerabilities cannot be left unpatched.

Higher costs and performance issues

EOS will increase costs for your organization due to a lack of support for security patches, bug fixes, or updates.  Performance issues relating to the stability of the application are also to be expected.

You need to act now!

to mitigate this risk and ensure business continuity.

Vanenburg’s offers a “Quick Scan” that delivers a path to de-risk your application in 10 days.
